Headset Troubleshooting with Skype
Problem:
No sound is coming out of my headphones/speakers or microphone.
  1. Make sure your headset is plugged in to the correct sound port on your computer. You may have to consult the manual for your sound card/computer, however the "headphones out" port is generally coloured green.

  2. If your headset comes with an in-line volume control - make sure it isn't adjusted all the way off, move the control towards the center for testing, and adjust it to a comfortable level once sound can be heard.

  3. Please step through the Skype Sound Setup for Windows XP and ensure your sound and microphone settings are correct.
  4. If you have access to a walkman, discman, mp3 player, or any other device which accepts standard headphones/earphones, you can simply plug in the 'green' headphone plug on the headset. Adjust the volume, and if sound can be heard the headset is working.
  5. To make a test call from within skype, type 'Echo123' in the text box above the call buttons (and press the green call button on the left).
